Terms of Service
Last Updated: March 2026. Please read these terms carefully before using Tristan's Lab.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using the web applications, tools, and content provided by Tristan's Digital Lab ("we", "us", or "our"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you disagree with any part of the terms, you may not access the service.
2. Description of Service & "Bring Your Own Content" (BYOC)
Tristan's Lab is an independent software engineering platform focusing on high-performance browser capabilities. We provide technical tools, including but not limited to, the TYF MegaOke WebAssembly synthesizer, client-side image compressors, and audio visualizers.
Crucial Clarification regarding MegaOke: We provide the software engine (the synthesizer). We do not host, distribute, or provide copyrighted music, audio tracks, lyrics, MIDI files, or SoundFonts. The tools function strictly on a "Bring Your Own Content" (BYOC) basis. Users are solely responsible for legally obtaining and loading their own local files into their local browser memory to test or utilize the engine.
3. Acceptable Use Policy
You agree not to use Tristan's Lab or its underlying technology to:
- Host, stream, or distribute copyrighted material without the express permission of the copyright owner.
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or otherwise extract the proprietary WebAssembly binaries or source code provided on this site.
- Engage in any activity that intentionally disrupts or interferes with the server infrastructure hosting the front-end application.
4. Client-Side Execution and Data Privacy
We pride ourselves on engineering zero-trust, client-side applications. When you use tools like our Image Compressor or Audio Synthesizer, the processing occurs entirely on your local machine using HTML5 APIs (such as the Canvas and FileReader APIs).
Because the data never leaves your device, we cannot and do not inspect the content you process. Consequently, you assume all liability for the nature and legality of the files you choose to process locally using our tools.
5. Intellectual Property
The original software architecture, user interface design, logos, and written content (including all articles in our Engineering Blog) hosted on Tristan's Lab are the intellectual property of Tristan and are protected by applicable copyright laws. You may not reproduce, redistribute, or use our assets for commercial purposes without explicit prior written consent.
6. Disclaimer of Warranties
The applications and tools provided by Tristan's Lab are experimental web engineering projects provided on an "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" basis. We make no warranties, expressed or implied, regarding the compatibility of our WebAssembly engines with specific browsers, older hardware, or specific operating systems.
We do not guarantee that the service will be uninterrupted, secure, or completely free of errors (e.g., audio latency issues on underpowered devices).
7. Limitation of Liability
In no event shall Tristan's Digital Lab, nor its creator, be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including without limitation, loss of data, loss of use, or other intangible losses, resulting from your access to or use of, or inability to access or use the tools provided on this website.
8. Changes to Terms
We reserve the right, at our sole discretion, to modify or replace these Terms at any time. By continuing to access or use our Service after those revisions become effective, you agree to be bound by the revised terms.
9. Contact Us
If you have any questions or concerns regarding these Terms of Service, or if you need to report a technical or compliance issue, please contact us via our Contact Page or by emailing us directly at hello@tristanlab.com.
